January 23, 2016 | Escape | Friends | Home Town

January is a month of beginnings and new, fresh starts. I love that about it. It's also unpredictable weather where in Alabama it can be in the 60's most of the time and every once in awhile we get snow. I planned to go to Nashville for the weekend because my birthday is next week. Birthdays are fun. It started snowing in Nashville last night and it snowed All. Day. Long. So, I'm sitting in my bed with my cute escape bag full of my sewing for the weekend.

I'm watching Woodlawn. This movie is incredible. Absolutely incredible. Watching it, I realized why I'm at home tonight. I needed to see this. You need to see this. It's a beautiful, Jesus centered movie.

"If you only love those that love you back, what kind of love is that?"

I had a great day with two incredible women. Layla Palmer and Jenny Walker   They live in Pike Road and we met at Peyton's Place for lunch and shopping at Amy's Antiques after. It's so inspiring and fulfilling to be around women who stand for each other and you can feel their kindness. We all found treasures. We discovered that Layla loves a certain color of green and can spot it a mile away! Jenny just built an amazing house and they talked about it the whole time which made me NEED to see it! Lunching again soon, ladies! This picture makes me laugh out loud. The flag attacking Layla and it was so cold I was holding onto Jenny's coat for dear life!

I found this amazing picture of the graduating Chaplain class of Harvard 1943. It's not in great shape, but it was $10. I can make it work! Layla just knew there was a specific name for pictures like this.....long, skinny and panoramic-ish. She asked on Instagram and her dedicated followers came through! A yard long portrait! I'm now on the hunt for more.

I want to introduce you to a couple I was introduced to just over a year ago. This is Erin and Ben Napier. They are from Laurel, Mississippi, a small town they love and believe in. They are getting their debut on HGTV this Sunday. I want you to watch. I want you to see what I saw, a genuine love for what they do. It's not for tv or you and me, it's for their family and their community. They are creative spirits and it shines out of them. What you need to know is that your tv needs to be tuned in and turned on. Only live viewers are counted for ratings. Watching it recorded doesn't count. You're going to have to go to early church, people! Leave your tv on while your gone and get home ASAP! I'm telling you, you don't want to miss it! How cute are they?!? Adorable. Home Town on HGTV.

December 4, 2015 | How to Hang a Piano

That's a little deceiving. I don't know how to hang a piano on the wall. Good lord, can you imagine doing that? I'm sure it's done somewhere and it's fabulous! But, not at moon glow lake.

I was on the local radio station this morning, WDJC, with Roxanne and Chris. Gah, we laughed! Roxanne and I tend to go overboard when it comes to decorating for Christmas and Chris, well, Chris just didn't understand. We tried to talk about how to make decorating your house simple. Chris seems to think matching ornaments and wrapping paper are not important. But, just think, if you have a color theme, it's easy!! Just buy all matching things and you're done! No decorating style needed!! I did want to come home and find something to show you how easy it is to add a little merry to your home in the easiest way. I grabbed a piece of a branch from my Christmas tree and popped a ribbon on top and added it to this piano hanging on my wall. See? Easy!!

So, this is how I hung this one. i actually found it at Ashlee's house last year. She told John Connor she would pay him to carry it to the dump. We carried it to the dump, alright! It went straight to Hansel and Gretel and hung on the wall there, until we moved here and it was the first thing I hung on these walls!

It's super heavy!! Make sure you have extra long nails and you have to find studs!! The frame has holes in it, so it was easy to know where to put the nails. Btw, this one is only hung with nails on one side. It's important to nail all the way down, so that it doesn't move. If it moves, it will tear your wall down!!

Connor and I ran up to Nashville for a Christmas party tonight. I loved getting to see Nancy, Meryll and Dana and meeting some of their friends! Such a fun group. We are going to go to Leiper's Fork tomorrow. I can't wait to show Connor how cute that little town is!!

Lucy's Visit to Scott's Antique Market

Where are you on the 2nd weekend of each month? If you are within driving distance, you should be at Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta! I usually make it from Birmingham 4 or 5 times a year. I recruited a friend to go with me over the weekend and we found a few treasures!

Lucysinspired: Lucy and Ashlee

We did stop in at the Atlanta America's Mart on Thursday to hit a couple of my favorite jewelry suppliers and see a few friends that I don't get to see often. Lucky for us, the Haven Blogging Conference was the same weekend and we decided to stay at that hotel so we could play with those friends, too! It was a full trifecta!!

Most of the showrooms from the Mart won't let you take photos, so there's nothing to show from there. I know. Sad face. I will take a few pics of what I bought to tease you with what I will be creating Lucy's Lockets with in the next few weeks and do a little post!

We made our way to Scott's early Friday morning and found lots of fun things that all of us junkers love so much!!

Lucysinspired: Crates from Scott's Antique Market

Crates are very popular and have been for the past few years. We've been using them for many reasons! I love to find them with bright advertising, but these two have special meaning and that gives me a MUCH BETTER reason to buy them! Starr happens to be Ashlee Moore's middle name and my husband's initials are RC! Rock on! These two were mine after haggling with Brian in one of the outdoor booths. He had many crates and I'm a little disappointed that I didn't buy more! ugh.

Lucysinspired: Ashlee playing croquet

We got stuck inside the "outside" building because of rain. Downpours of rain!! It's not a very big building and I had scoured every bucket for chain and vintage hardware. There was nothing else to buy! We were getting a little goofy, but how cute does Ashlee look ready to play croquet!!

Lucysinspired: Vintage Advertising

Vintage advertising signs are everywhere in the outdoor lot at Scott's. I loved the colors on this one and those prices! You will see replicas in lots of booths, but there are plenty of originals and sometimes, just sometimes, you will get a good deal on one!

Lucysinspired: Vintage Screen Door

Is this the back door? I'm with the Hippies!

Lucysinspired: Haul from Scott's Antique Market

This is how we do it. This is how we do it. It's Friday night….oh wait. Always a song lyric in my head. This is how Joel and I do it. I give him a huge pile of goodies and he separates them into smaller piles by price. Then, we add it all up, take out one or two and throw in a few more, he gives me a price, I tell him how much I'll pay and we meet in the middle. I was born to do this y'all. I LOVE to negotiate!!

So, next time you want to go to Atlanta for the weekend, make sure it's the second weekend! You want to spend a day roaming inside and out. Did I mention there are two different buildings? One on each side of I-285. It's really hard for me to make both buildings. I always go to the one with the most outdoor booths. They seem to have better prices, but if it rains, they all cover up their tables with tarps and don't always come back in time for shopping! I found an RC crate under a table that said, " Me and my RC." Hello. that would have been stacked right on top of those other two finds!!

If you are dying that you missed this one and there is a whole 'nother month before the next one…..There is another antique market on the third weekend of each month, the Lakewood 400 Antiques Market. I've never been, but can't wait to get there soon!
